Withdraws From American Express Tournament

World number one golfer Scottie Scheffler has announced his withdrawal from the upcoming American Express tournament due to a hand injury sustained during Christmas preparations. Scheffler, who had previously pulled out of the Sentry Tournament in Hawaii, suffered a cut from broken glass while preparing Christmas dinner. The injury required surgical intervention, involving the removal of small glass fragments from his palm.

The American golfer, who dominated the 2024 season with major wins including The Players Championship, The Masters, and the FedExCup, has set his sights on a return at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am scheduled for January 30 to February 2, 2025. Scheffler’s management confirmed that while the recovery is progressing well, the decision to skip the American Express tournament was made to allow more healing time.
