The Western Engineers Group inaugurated the much-anticipated Golf Open 2024 at the prestigious Kurmitola Golf Club today. The tournament, is set to unfold over the next three days, showcasing top-tier talent in the sport.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by notable dignitaries including Bashir Ahmed, Managing Director of Western Engineers Group, and Major General Md Mashud Razzaq (Retd), President of the Bangladesh Professional Golfers’ Association (BPGA). The opening ceremony saw the symbolic pull of the curtain, signaling the start of the tournament.
Other esteemed guests included Brigadier General Md Mahbub Islam, Vice President of BPGA, Lieutenant Colonel Foridul Mahmood (Retd), Joint Secretary of BPGA, Abul Kalam Azad, Major Mahmudur Rahman Chowdhury (Retd), Muhammad Nurul Kabir, Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman, and Sabbir Khan Shafin, CEO of BPGA. Additionally, Lieutenant Colonel Ahsan Aziz (Retd), Chief Coordinator of the Bangladesh Golf Federation (BGF), was present along with several other prominent figures in the golfing community.
The tournament features a total of 104 participants, among whom 93 are professional golfers and 11 are amateur golfers, reflecting a blend of seasoned players and rising stars. This event not only highlights the competitive spirit of the game but also aims to foster a greater appreciation and enthusiasm for golf in Bangladesh.
