The Dhaka qualifier forms part of the global Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup series, giving golfers from across the airline’s international destinations a chance to compete at the Grand Final in Turkey. Dhaka was first included in the tournament lineup in 2015, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s commitment to the local golfing community.
Established in 2013, the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup is an annual corporate amateur tournament. Winners from various global qualifiers converge for the Grand Final in Turkey, held during the same week as the prestigious Turkish Airlines Open.
The series has grown rapidly since its inception, starting with just 12 events in 2013 and expanding to 50 qualifiers the following year. By 2015, over 4,500 players competed across 70 tournaments for 140 Grand Final spots. As the event expanded, it reached 100 cities worldwide from 2016, underscoring Turkish Airlines’ commitment to fostering a global golf community.
