The Western Engineering Group recently organized the prestigious Golf Open 2024 at Kurmitola Golf Club. The inaugural ceremony was graced by several notable dignitaries, including Bashir Ahmed, Managing Director of Western Engineers Group, and Major General Md Mashud Razzaq (Retd), President of the Bangladesh Professional Golfers’ Association (BPGA). The ceremony commenced with the symbolic pull of the curtain, signaling the start of the tournament.
Esteemed guests included Brigadier General Md Mahbub Islam, Vice President of BPGA; Lieutenant Colonel Foridul Mahmood (Retd), Joint Secretary of BPGA; Abul Kalam Azad; Major Mahmudur Rahman Chowdhury (Retd); Muhammad Nurul Kabir; Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman; and Sabbir Khan Shafin, CEO of BPGA. Additionally, Lieutenant Colonel Ahsan Aziz (Retd), Chief Coordinator of the Bangladesh Golf Federation (BGF), was present along with several other prominent figures in the golfing community.
The tournament featured a total of 104 participants, comprising 93 professional golfers and 11 amateur golfers, showcasing a blend of seasoned players and rising stars. Among the winners, Jamal Hossain emerged as the champion, while amateur golfer Md Forhad Mia took the top spot in his category. Md Abdur Rahman secured the one-hole winner title.
Samaun Ahmed Mousumi, Director of Western Engineers Group, presented the awards to the winners, marking the successful conclusion of the Golf Open 2024.
