Heavy Rain reduces The BMW Australian PGA Championship to 54 Holes
The BMW Australian PGA Championship has been shortened to a 54-hole event after persistent heavy rain forced organizers to cancel play before the start of the second round on Friday. The area around Royal Queensland Golf Club has experienced significant rainfall, accumulating nearly 250 mm since last week.
Tournament Director Jose Maria Zamora of the DP World Tour explained that the relentless rain in the morning left several fairways waterlogged, rendering the golf course unplayable for the day. In response, officials have rescheduled the start of the second round to 6:00 AM on Saturday, with plans to hold the final round on Sunday.

The decision aims to ensure the tournament finishes on time this weekend, especially considering the upcoming ISPS HANDA Australian Open which will take place across two different courses next week.
