Takes An Early Lead At The Grant Thornton

Patty Tavatanakit and Jake Knapp took the lead with an impressive performance on the first day of the Grant Thornton Invitational, carding a 14-under-par 58. They showcased their skill by birdieing the first nine holes and securing an eagle later in the round. This stellar start placed them one stroke ahead of their closest competitors at the Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida.

In this unique mixed team event that features stars from both the PGA and LPGA Tours, the defending champions, Lydia Ko and Jason Day, finished the day at 10 under. The competition employs various formats over its three rounds, starting with a scramble format on Friday. Here, both Tavatanakit and Knapp took shots and chose the better ball for their next play, a strategy that clearly paid off.
