How did you come to golf and when did you start playing?
It’s a long story. I was introduced to golf by my brother in 2007. We used to play hockey at home. We started playing golf with tennis balls and wood sticks. I was the best in that sort of amateurish thing. I went to Shaheen Golf and Country Club in 2011 and I met Hannan uncle there. He was my first golf coach. He gave me a nine-iron and a three-wood. I started with those two clubs. After my exams and everything, I took a break before getting back in 2014 as a member of the club. I set my target to become a professional.
Why golf and not other sports like football and cricket?
Everyone has his own likings and dislikings. I will not be able to specify why I love golf but when the golf ball flies, I feel as if my spirit flies with it. When I walk on the course I feel amazing.

Who was the biggest inspiration that drove you towards golf?
My brother was my biggest inspiration. He did everything including arranging for my membership. My youngest paternal uncle was another person who inspired me a lot. My other family members encourage me too.
Who are your favourite golfers?
In Bangladesh, it is obviously Siddikur Rahman. When he won the Brunei Open in 2011, I set my mind that I would become a professional golfer. Internationally Tiger Woods is my idol. I’m his crazy fan and I follow his game a lot. I like the swing of Rory McIlroy the most.
Which one is your most favourite golf course?
I enjoy playing at the Bhatiary Golf Club. Kurmitola is also very close to my heart.
What is your target in golf?
I have a few targets. I want to turn pro when I feel that my game is good enough for becoming a pro. However, my main target is to play on the PGA Tour which is the dream of every golfer.
What are you doing to achieve your targets?
I have completed my honours. So I have devoted my time fully to golf. I am currently getting coaching from Farid sir. I am very impressed and I feel I have learnt a lot of things from him which I didn’t know before.
What is your message to those who are not yet playing golf?
I would say there is no other sport as refreshing as golf. People from other sports play golf too to get refreshed. This game is refreshing and enjoyable. Once you start playing well, you become addicted to it. The game is also a medium for travelling. You can go to a lot of beautiful places through golf. So I would ask them to come to golf and enjoy it.
