Veteran golfer Shakawat Hssain Sohel bagged the title of the 8th Summit Open 2017 at the Kurmitola Golf Club in the last week of December, 2017.
This was a happy time for the Kurmitola golfer who recently secured rights for playing in the Asian Tour 2018 on country spot. He would also be heading to the PGTI Qualifying School at the start of January.
This prize money of taka 01 lac 50 thousand will help him attending these tours. With the increased prize money of taka 11 lac this tournament saw a highest participation of 114 players (92 Professional and 12 Amateur)
Sohel won the title with an aggregate score of five-under-par, helping himself to a paycheque of Tk 1.5 lacs. A total of 114 players, 92 of them professionals, took part in this 11-lac-taka event.
Lt. Col. Muhammad Faruk Khan (Retd.) former Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, distributed prizes among the winners. Vice chairman of Summit Group Md Latif Khan, Additional Managing Director of Summit Corporation Faisal Khan, Secretary General of BPGA Brigadier General GM Quamrul Islam (Retd) and other members of BPGA were present in the concluding ceremony.
