Mohammad Sayum claimed his second BPGA title of the season by winning the 11th Summit Professional Golf Tournament, beating Siddikur Rahman by three shots at the Kumritola Golf Club recently.
The multiple-BPGA winner from KGC recovered from a poor second round with a fine final round to win the title of Tk 1500,00-lakh event with an aggregate score of eight-under-par (208).
This is Sayum’s second BPGA title of the season, following his victory in the Runner Professional Golf Tournament in late September.
Siddikur, who returned to the country recently, scored 70, 72 and 69 for an aggregate of five-under-par (211).
Akbar Hossain and Jakiruzzaman Jakir, with matching scores of even-par (216), finished tied for third position.
Lt Col Muhammad Faruk Khan (Retd), MP, Presidium Member, Bangladesh Awami League, handed over the trophies and cheque to the winners as the chief guest at the prize giving ceremony.
Maj Gen Md Zahirul Islam, ndc, psc, Vice President , Kurmitola Golf Club, was present as the special guest of the ceremony. Mohammad Farid Khan, Vice-Chairman, Summit Communication Ltd was also present in the ceremony.
Lt Col Khandaker Abdul Wahed (retd), President, Bangladesh Professional Golfers Association thanked Summit Group for sponsoring the event during this crucial time and for supporting professional golfers and professional golf in Bangladesh. Maj Md Mahmudur Rahman Chowdhury, Joint Secretary, BPGA remained present in the ceremony.
