PGA Tour Player Of The Year For The Third Consecutive Time

Scottie Scheffler has been named the PGA Tour Player of the Year for the third consecutive season, decisively beating competitors Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele. With a dominant share of the vote at 91%, Scheffler is the first player to secure the award for three straight years since Tiger Woods achieved the same feat from 2005 to 2007. Scheffler’s remarkable 2024 campaign included seven PGA Tour wins and his first-ever Olympic gold medal in Paris, alongside his inaugural FedExCup victory.

During a season marked by both personal and professional milestones, Scheffler also celebrated becoming a father shortly after clinching his second Masters title in three years. His year included a significant win at The Masters, which was his only major victory of the season compared to Schauffele’s two major wins. Additionally, Scheffler won at The Players, defending his title successfully, and added victories at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, RBC Heritage, The Memorial Tournament, and the Travelers Championship to his name.

The PGA Tour Player of the Year award, determined through votes by members who participated in at least 15 events this season, signifies peer acknowledgment of Scheffler’s standout performance. PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan highlighted the historic nature of Scheffler’s achievements, stating, “On behalf of the PGA Tour, congratulations to Scottie Scheffler on a truly historic season, capped off with his first FedExCup title and today a third consecutive Jack Nicklaus Award as PGA Tour Player of the Year.”

Reflecting on his accomplishments and the comparisons to Tiger Woods, Scheffler remarked, “There’s really only one Tiger. I’m not chasing records or chasing history or anything like that, I’m just trying to day in and day out continue to improve a little bit, just go out there and compete, have fun.” This ethos underscores Scheffler’s focus on self-improvement and enjoying the game amidst his competitive triumphs.
