Philippine Open Set to Tee Off Again

The Philippine Open, Asia’s oldest professional golf tournament, is making its long-awaited return after years of absence. The prestigious event is set to take place from January 23 to 26 at the Masters course of the Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club.

In a significant milestone for Philippine golf, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed to formalize the tournament’s comeback. The agreement was signed by Al Panlilio, chairman of the National Golf Association of the Philippines (NGAP), and Robert John “Bob” Sobrepeña, chairman of Manila Southwoods.

Also present at the signing ceremony were key figures in the Philippine golf scene, including NGAP President Martin Lorenzo, NGAP Vice President Leana Farrales Carmona, Manila Southwoods Officer-In-Charge Jayson Yu, NGAP Executive Director Abe Rosal, Manila Southwoods Assistant General Manager Jerome Delariarte, and Manila Southwoods Golf Director Andre Santos.

The return of the Philippine Open marks a major moment in Asian golf, with top local and international golfers expected to compete on the world-class Masters course. This event is poised to reignite the rich golfing tradition of the Philippines and showcase the country’s premier golfing destination on the global stage.
