The 60th Philippine Ladies Open Championship, one of the most prestigious amateur tournaments for female golfers in the country, officially began on January 14 at the challenging South Course of Valley Golf Country Club. Organized by the Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines (WGAP) under the leadership of President Cielo Fregil, the championship will showcase the skills of amateur golfers over three exciting days, culminating on January 16.

The grand opening ceremony was led by Valley Golf Country Club President Cons Kohchet-Chua, who welcomed participants and guests to the landmark event. Adding star power to the ceremony was LPGA Tour player and 2024 Olympic hopeful Bianca Pagdanganan, who graced the occasion as an inspiring figure for aspiring golfers.

In a memorable ceremonial tee-off, Bianca was joined by Past WGAP President Chino Raymundo, Valley Golf’s esteemed Golf Director Cyna Rodriguez—herself a former champion of the Philippine Ladies Open in 2010—and key members of the WGAP Board. Their presence underscored the rich history and bright future of Philippine women’s golf.
