Golfer’s Impressive Hole-in-One Funds Home for Family in Need
Bubba Watson found himself near the top of the leaderboard after three rounds at the Asian Tour’s Indonesian Masters, helped by an impressive hole-in-one on the 11th hole at Royale Jakarta Golf Club. The ace contributed to a solid round of 65, placing him in third at 14-under-par, seven shots behind leader Richard T. Lee. Ahmad Baig currently holds second place, just one stroke ahead of Watson.
Watson’s hole-in-one also brought a charitable impact. Habitat for Humanity Indonesia will donate one house for each ace this week, meaning Watson’s shot will result in a new home for a family in need. Following his round, he pledged to donate an additional house, and shortly after, Phachara Khongwatmai made a second ace on the same 11th hole, securing yet another home.
“The game of golf has helped tremendously around the world through all the charities that golf has brought to the table, so to be a part of that, it’s very special,” Watson said. “It’s an honor. There’ll be a couple families that will be helped out.”
Watson, 45, has struggled this season on the LIV Golf circuit, ranking 53rd individually, with his best result being a tie for 15th in the season’s second event. His last victory was at the PGA Tour’s Travelers Championship in 2018. As captain of the Range Goats team, Watson is currently in the league’s relegation zone, which threatens his position on the roster. Competing in the Indonesian Masters, an International Series event supported by LIV Golf, is a step toward maintaining his role as captain.
