Joaquín Niemann wins the Saudi International title in a playoff

Joaquín Niemann from Chile secured his first Saudi International win at Riyadh Golf Club on Saturday. He triumphed over Cameron Smith from Australia and Caleb Surratt from the USA after a tense playoff.

All three golfers finished the tournament tied at 21-under par. In the playoff, Niemann edged out his competitors with a brilliant birdie on the second hole to clinch the victory.

Niemann had started the day in the lead and shot a final round of 71, which included six birdies and two bogeys, to make it into the playoff. His win also topped off his success in the International Series Rankings.

Niemann expressed his enjoyment of competitive play and his anticipation for the next season. “It was a good day. Caleb and I played great,” he said. “It’s a great way to finish the season and I’m looking forward to what comes next with LIV and hopefully participating in more majors.”
