Alejandro del Rey Claims First DP World Tour Title
Alejandro del Rey secured his maiden DP World Tour title in emphatic fashion, storming to a four-shot victory at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship. The Spaniard delivered a stellar final round of 66 at Al Hamra Golf Club, completing three consecutive rounds of 66 to finish at 22 under par.
Del Rey’s triumph marked a historic moment as he became the first Spanish player to win on the 2025 Race to Dubai. His impressive performance left Englishman Marcus Armitage trailing in second place despite a spirited challenge.
Starting the final round with a two-shot lead, del Rey quickly widened the gap with a blistering start, pulling five shots clear of the field. Although Armitage managed to reduce the deficit to three strokes by the turn, del Rey surged ahead again with a flawless display on the back nine, opening up a six-shot advantage with just five holes to play. He held steady with five consecutive pars to close his round and secure his first DP World Tour victory in his 70th start.
Fellow Spaniard David Puig delivered a strong performance, finishing third at 19 under par after a final-round 65. Australian Jason Scrivener claimed fourth place, one stroke further back.
The Spanish dominance extended beyond del Rey and Puig, with Ivan Cantero tying for fifth at 12 under par alongside England’s Joe Dean and Sweden’s Sebastian Söderberg. Meanwhile, France’s Adrien Saddier made headlines with a spectacular hole-in-one at the seventh hole, finishing in a tie for 13th.
