Charlie Woods Celebrates First Hole-in-One
During the PNC Championship’s thrilling final round, 15-year-old Charlie Woods, son of golf legend Tiger Woods, achieved his first career hole-in-one. This remarkable feat occurred on the par-three fourth hole, propelling the father-son duo into the tournament lead. The PNC Championship is renowned for pairing major champions with family members, creating a unique and familial competitive atmosphere.
Despite their strong performance, the Woods were narrowly outplayed in a playoff by the formidable Team Langer, consisting of Bernhard Langer and his son Jason. The Langers clinched their second consecutive title—and their fourth overall—at this event in Orlando, Florida, with Bernhard making an eagle on the first playoff hole to secure their victory.
Reflecting on the tournament, Charlie Woods shared his excitement, “It was awesome. No one made a mistake today, so that was some of the most fun I’ve ever had. On top of that, I made an ace. I don’t think I can top that.” This event marked Tiger Woods’ return to competitive golf following his back surgery in September. Despite acknowledging his recovery status, Woods was upbeat about their teamwork, emphasizing the joy of participating with family.

In a remarkable coincidence, another young golfer, Paddy Harrington—son of three-time major winner Padraig Harrington—also scored his first hole-in-one on the same day, just 30 minutes after Charlie, at the eighth hole. An elated Padraig Harrington commented on the moment, “I’ve never been as excited before. I’ve never hit a shot and been that excited before.”
The tournament highlighted not just competitive spirit but also the deep bonds and memorable moments shared between parents and their children on the golf course.
