U.S. Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley has warned that unruly spectators at next year’s Ryder Cup will be ejected if they “cross the line.” The 2025 event will take place at Bethpage Black in New York, where a lively, partisan crowd is expected as the U.S. aims to reclaim the trophy lost to Europe in Rome in 2023.

Bradley emphasized the importance of maintaining fairness for both teams, noting that PGA of America officials will be monitoring spectator behavior. “If you act inappropriately, you’re going to be asked to leave the tournament,” Bradley told BBC Sport. He hopes fans will be respectful while still energetically supporting the U.S. team.

European captain Luke Donald echoed Bradley’s sentiments, stressing that winning “in the right way” is crucial for both teams. Donald, who aims to lead Europe to an away win for the first time since the 2012 “Miracle at Medinah,” added, “It’s the responsibility of the PGA of America to have protocols in place.”

Bradley acknowledged the pressure that the passionate New York crowd could place on his team if Europe gets off to a strong start. “New York fans expect us to win, and they will let the team know if they’re upset,” Bradley said. However, he remains excited about the intense atmosphere, calling it “unlike anything you’ve ever seen.”

Bradley also addressed his personal ambitions, revealing that he still aims to qualify as a player for the Ryder Cup. Although overlooked for the 2023 event in Italy, despite strong performances on the PGA Tour, Bradley is determined to continue competing at the highest level. “I’m still a full-time player in the prime of my career, and I still expect to win big tournaments,” he said, leaving open the possibility of playing at Bethpage.

Meanwhile, Donald reflected on his encounters with Bradley during the 2012 Ryder Cup and acknowledged that if Bradley qualifies, he’ll be a “tough” opponent. Donald also shared that Sergio Garcia, Europe’s all-time Ryder Cup points leader, is considering a return. Garcia, who has shown improved form in 2024, would need to reapply for membership in the DP World Tour to be eligible. Donald expressed optimism after a recent conversation with the Spanish golfer, saying, “He’s thinking about it.”

LIV Golf players Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton also hope to make the European team, though both are awaiting the outcome of their appeals against fines imposed by the DP World Tour for participating in LIV events. Donald said the matter is out of his control but trusts the DP World Tour to handle the situation appropriately.
