With a successful career in the garments industry, Lepon has been passionate about golf since 2009. He shares how the sport has shaped his personal and professional life, the role his family plays in their shared love for the game, and the valuable lessons he has gained from his golfing journey.
How long have you been involved with golf?
“I’ve been continuously involved with golf since 2009. My journey with the sport began thanks to a friend who introduced me to it. Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as the chairman of both the Golfing Committee and Golf Tournament Committee at Shaheen Golf and Country Club in Chittagong. My passion for golf has only grown stronger over the years.”
Is golf a family affair for you?
“Yes, golf has become an essential part of our family life. My wife and two sons are active golfers. My daughter used to play for a while but is no longer involved. My elder son plays exceptionally well and maintains a handicap of 10. My younger son has also showcased his talent and even won several trophies. It brings me immense joy to see my family share this passion with me.”
What are your personal achievements in golf?
“Throughout my journey, I’ve enjoyed several achievements on the golf course. My current handicap is 8, and at one point, it was as low as 5. I’ve won many trophies and had the pleasure of playing at various tournaments, both locally and internationally. These experiences have enriched my life in more ways than I can express.”
What do you love about golf?
“Golf offers a unique blend of mental relaxation and physical activity. Whenever I play, it allows me to detach from daily stresses and focus entirely on the game. Physical fitness is another key benefit – despite being 55 years old, I am grateful to Allah that I have no health issues and stay in good shape. Golf has truly been a significant part of my well-being.”
What message would you like to convey to the community?
“Golf offers so much more than just a sport – it provides a fantastic environment to socialize, build meaningful friendships, and enjoy quality time. I encourage my friends and peers in the business community to explore the sport and experience its benefits firsthand. Golf not only promotes physical fitness but also nurtures mental well-being, which is invaluable. These are achievements that money simply can’t buy, but golf can provide.
